One of a lovely range of must-have BIG BOOKS with beautiful illustrations and stories covering themes dealt with in the CAPS syllabus.
Each book has one main theme (pg. 21) and a variety of supporting themes. There are also ideas on how to incorporate language and mathematics.
Pages 21 and 23 act as a teacher’s guide stating which themes are covered and ideas on how to use the book. There is a list of questions that could be asked about the story or individual pages. Pg.22 has condensed writing and pictures, so that the
teacher/parent can read the book from that page whilst showing the pictures and text to the child/children at the same time.
The book can be read to children of all ages for enjoyment: the Perceptual, Maths and Engish ideas must be adapted according to the level taught. The topics/themes may apply to a specific grade but can be used for discussion or additional information in any Grade.
English as a second language:
These beautifully illustrated books are an excellent way to teach English as a second language. The parent/teacher reads the books in English and discusses the pictures and story in their home language or in English.
